Barshasketh - Defying the Bonds of Cosmic Thralldom [90%]
With guttural harsh vocals and twangy uncomfortable leads and rhythms Barshasketh deliver an incredibly strong first full length. Melodic leads abound, fully packaged with excellent rhythm sections leading the driving atmosphere. This album contains the prototype sounds of atmospheric bm, but without the laid back minimalist approach. Song structure and layering throughout are well thought, and deliver an epic triumphant punch. Overall the album is fairly high tempo, but does not shy away from moodier slower riffs that make you yearn for the moment they break through the wall and tear down all opposition.
All in all Barshasketh show an unapologetic, unforgiving raw assault that ranks up there with some of the best. If unapologetic black metal with beautiful guitars and relentless memorable rocking riffs is something you like, then look no further.
